Since moving to Zurich, Switzerland, in 2005, Julie has been working on two new bodies of work. The first is a series of acrylic portraits of individuals who have played important roles, large or small, in her recent life. Her subjects hail from a variety of countries and cultures. The vibrant colors she uses in her paintings reflect the passionate souls of those depicted.
Her most recent body of work, entitled Cityscapes, depicts glimpses of various cities Julie has visited or inhabited in recent years. In this series of acrylic and oil paintings, she continues her exploration of bold colors while attempting to invoke the moods of the locations being depicted.
A portion of the proceeds from this show will be donated to Hands On Switzerland, a local non-profit group of which Julie has been a board member since 2006.
